Why should you be living in Baja?

The idea of living in Baja is often the first thought for those who are trying to make the perfect retirement plan. In fact, according to the American magazine International Living, Mexico is the third place in the world of most popular places to live when people retire. You read right, the third place in the entire globe.

You may be wondering why and as experts in Baja’s Real Estate, we have a pretty clear idea. We tell you all about it in this Blog entrance, so we invite you to keep reading!

Living in Baja is living in a weather paradise

One of the biggest attractions of living in Baja is definitely the weather. Ensenada particularly enjoys a Mediterranean climate that is slightly rainy in the winter and sunny in the summer. You might think that the summers are terribly hot because of Ensenada’s location, but this is far from true.

Actually, a cool Pacific current keeps summers mild, and the fresh ocean breezes make an ideal climate all year round. You won’t even need air-conditioning!

In Ensenada, the winters are also mild, and during the autumn, winter, and the beginning of spring, the wind sometimes changes direction and comes from the eastern part of the desert. These winds can raise the temperature slightly (between 80 and 90°F ). Much to your surprise, the warmest days of the year often occur in the winter, when this happens.

This favorable climate allows you to walk on the beach, chill, and enjoy the sun, no matter what season you’re in, a significant point in favor of this beach paradise!

A heaven for food and wine lovers

The gastronomy in Mexico is as rich and diverse as its culture, and living in Baja is equivalent to living in heaven for those who love food and wine. In fact, Ensenada is well known for its delicious fresh-off-the-boat seafood and enjoyable wine-tasting tours in the vineyards.

Every culinary paradise always has a dish that stands out from the rest, and that dish in this Mexican city is definitely the fish taco.

This special dish was born in the heart of Ensenada, and it spread out throughout the city and became so popular that you can find a fish taco cart on just about every street corner (not exaggerating). And each taco is so distinct and delicious that even locals have a different favorite spot.

We promise there is something about these fish tacos that you don’t have anywhere else in the world. Although you can get fresh fish in some places, the secret of its unique flavor lies in the sauces and toppings. Each cart has its own twist on the original recipe and a more elaborate salsa bar with all kinds of toppings.

Although the fish taco holds a special place in our hearts, we cannot forget other gastronomic delights, such as the tasty empanadas from La Misión or the exquisite lobster from Puerto Nuevo. And, of course, the endless options of sea street food whose flavor seems to be taken from a culinary magazine of the highest prestige.

You’ll always have something to do

Living in Ensenada means that you’ll always have something interesting to do. From chilling out beneath the sun, feeling the sand under your feet, to immersing in the deep blue waters to search for the best waves to surf.

If you like adventure, you can find many extreme sports options that raise your heartbeats, such as skydiving and ATV rides, snorkeling, or surfing. In fact, Baja is known as a surfer’s paradise, thanks to the great waves you can enjoy all year round.

If you like to take long walks to appreciate the surroundings, you can also find many options, such as walking along the Malecon (the most beautiful in Mexico). Ensenada is a port town, so this is where you’ll see the fishing boats and cruise ships sitting side by side. This area is really alive in the evenings, especially during the weekends when you can find live regional music and a fountain nicely lit at night.

The beach in Ensenada is much like the Malecon, outstanding and beautiful. Playa La Misión is a sandy beach ideal for a morning walking routine, practicing yoga on the soft sand, or doing a peaceful meditation harmonizing your breathing with the sound of the waves.

These activities are only the tip of the iceberg of the endless things you can do in Ensenada, like sport fishing, whale watching, seeing natural beauties like the marine geyser La Bufadora, or launching into the adventure by hiking in the 4.9-mile loop of El Salto Canyon Trail.

If we know things for sure, it’s that living in Baja is living life at its fullest, and Ensenada can offer everything you could ever want: perfect weather, delicious food, fabulous beaches, peace of mind, and adventure. Whether you’re looking for fun or chill out, Baja is the place to be!
